So since I have decided to stick with bold and bright rainbow colors for the minimal decorations I’ll be doing for Joaquin’s party, one of my favorite things to do lately while it rains and he naps is hunt the web for paint swatch art. While it’s definitely not a new thing, it is so simple and creative I just can’t get over it. My house is so coated in color (in no purposely designed way whatsoever) that it makes sense I’m attracted to this idea. Not only is it clever and easy but it’s also FREE. Maybe that’s what makes it clever. You can literally steal the materials from your local hardware store, and no one will be the wiser. Even if they are onto you they won’t arrest you, I promise. They might look at you funny though. But the swatches are free, girl! Here are some of my favorite examples:

This next image of a sunrise is incredible. At first glance it looks like a pixelated image, but a closer look reveals individual paint swatches creating a larger photo. What I love about this is that it is not only unusual and creative and grand, but the person who did this left the names of the colors on the swatches instead of cutting or editing them out. I love that. This needs to be framed at the headquarters of whichever paint company these swatches came from.

Of course for the birthday boy I am stumped. Not entirely sure what to do in order to display some paint swatches but still tie it into his party. And ideas? And what a cool gift a little paint swatch art could make! I should add this to my DIY holiday gifts post for an affordable and awesome gift. All you need is a small canvas or frame, some glue or tape, and paint swatches in the lucky person’s favorite color palette. I’ll take one in citrons and oranges like the one above, I need a splash of sun in this freezing cold weather. And since his face always warms me up, here’s a completely unrelated photo of the baby boy in his cute little sitting position.
